Quilting Prices |
My quilting prices are divided into the following three categories.
They vary by the amount and complexity of quilting involved, and will
be determined by the finished result you desire. Each price level is
based on a per square inch charge. To determine the size of your quilt
top, multiple the width in inches by the length in inches. Then
multiply this number by the quilting price for the category you
have selected for your quilt.
| Example: | Your quilt is 60" wide by 74" long |
| Width: 60" x Length: 74" = 4440 square inches |
| You choose Custom quilting at $.025/sq. inch |
| 4440 sq. inches x $.025/sq. inch = $111.00 |
Side to Side Quilting $.015/sq. inch
This service is for one design, using one thread color, repeated over
the entire surface of the quilt. Included in this category are basic
pantograph patterns, large meandering, and free form quilting done
without regard to the piecing design. I would recommend this application
for a "utility" quilt which will get a lot of use, be "well loved",
or receive frequent laundering.
Custom Quilting $.025/sq. inch
This category encompasses a wide variety of quilting techniques such as
"stitch in the ditch", cross hatching, multiple designs and patterns on
individual blocks, designs from stencils and templates, etc. Multiple
thread colors are usually employed. This is the most commonly requested
service, as it allows me to accentuate the beauty of the piecing and/or
appliqué using appropriately placed textural elements. There is an additional
$15 charge to turn the quilt to complete borders, if necessary.
Heirloom Quilting $.035/sq. inch:
This service differs from the Custom Quilting category in its complexity.
Applications include smaller background patterns and stippling, very dense
designs, trapunto, and other quilting methods requiring considerable time
to perform. This category is usually reserved for those quilts that have
special meaning and will be worthy of the added expense. A $15 fee to turn
the quilt to complete the borders is additional.
Included in Each Category
- I will baste around the perimeter of the quilt (within 1/4" of
the edge) to stabilize the edge and facilitate the application of
the binding
- I will trim the backing and batting to 1" of the top, unless
instructed otherwise
Additional Charges
- If required, services such as pressing, trimming threads, squaring
up the back, repairing, etc. will be performed for an additional $15
per hour. I will contact you in the event I feel this is warranted,
for your approval or will return the quilt for you to complete and
return.
