Thread |
- I use only high quality threads. My preference is to
use 100% long staple cotton thread and have an extensive
selection of colors on hand. Many quilters prefer cotton
as it is soft, wears well, and matches the fiber most
commonly used in the construction of the top.
- I also stock an assortment of variegated polyester,
high-sheen metallic colored and variegated polyester,
and monofilament (clear and smoky) nylon threads. I
will most often match these top threads with an appropriate
weight cotton thread on the back side. Some of these
threads tend to be more expensive, but may provide just
the look you’re trying to achieve.
- My thread prices are calculated by the number of bobbins
used times the price range for the top thread selected. Solid
colors of cotton or polyester and monofilament threads will
cost $1 per bobbin. High sheen polyester, variegated, and
other specialty threads will cost $1.50 per bobbin.
- If you have a specific thread you would like me to use on
your quilt, I would be glad to consider it. Not all threads
are able to withstand the rigors of a high speed quilting
machine and may not be appropriate for use.
